About Me

Lydia Brayshaw is an award-winning actor, writer, dancer and visual artist based in London.

Originally from Dartmoor in Devon, Lydia’s creative journey began with classical ballet. She trained at The Royal Ballet School, and during that time performed on renowned stages including the Royal Opera House, Sadler’s Wells, and The Birmingham Rep.

She later moved into screen work, making her film debut in TWENTY, where she starred opposite Lorraine Ashbourne. The performance earned her Best Actress at the São Paulo International Film Festival in 2024, with further acting credits quickly following across both film and commercial work.

Lydia’s creative practice extends well beyond performance. She works as a freelance writer, movement coach and choreographer, and has also gained recognition for her illustration. In 2016, she was commissioned to paint a pair of ballet shoes that were presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her 90th birthday.

Having grown up within the constraints of a deeply traditional artform, Lydia’s work now centres on truth-telling and advocacy – especially for women whose voices have been silenced or erased in both historical and contemporary narratives.
